An experience I've had with an exceptionality is that there was a girl in my class who had dyslexia. She needed help when we did tests. The test had to be read out to her in another room because she would get words mixed up when she read the test herself. At first I dint get it and I asked her why she couldnt read it normal. She just shrugged and said she was born this way. I asked her what did she see when she read something in a book. She said just a bunch of jumbled words here and there. That was my first experience with an exceptionality.
In high school people with disabilities (learning and physical) was apparent. I think it was because we had a separate section of the school for the people with severe learning disabilities. Also the people in wheelchairs were in that part too. The only places that they werent sepaprated was in connections and the lunchroom. In high school I became more accepting of people differences.

I Am Poem
I am nice and determined
I wonder why things are so hard sometimes
I hear ants crawling
I see the rainbows in rain puddles
I want to read minds
I am nice and determined
I pretend to not care at times
I feel the music moving through me
I touch the air around me
I worry about how things are going to turn out in my life
I cry when I think about if my loved ones died
I am nice and detemined
I understand that not everything will always go my way
I say God will hear my prayers
I dream of being rich
I try to be nice most of the time
I hope that all of this wasn't for nothing
I am nice and determined
I wonder why things are so hard sometimes
I hear ants crawling
I see the rainbows in rain puddles
I want to read minds
I am nice and determined
I pretend to not care at times
I feel the music moving through me
I touch the air around me
I worry about how things are going to turn out in my life
I cry when I think about if my loved ones died
I am nice and detemined
I understand that not everything will always go my way
I say God will hear my prayers
I dream of being rich
I try to be nice most of the time
I hope that all of this wasn't for nothing
I am nice and determined

Waiting on Superman Reflection
The movie Waiting on Superman takes an inside look at how school systems are failing. How even though some schools have the most up to date technology they still aren't meeting AYP. The film gave me new insight on how crowded some schools are. I have never experienced an overcrowded school to that degree. Since the school were overcrowded some students could be over looked. It made me sad when the little boy Francisco didn't make it into the charter school, because all he needed was a little more attention that the teacher wasn't able to give. I think that charter schools need to be able to accept more kids. When I saw the HUGE gap between how many people were applying and how many could actually get in I was amazed. That gap would mean a lot of kids were going to be stuck in their under performing schools. But my main question is, what needs to happen in the American school system to achieve what these charter schools that are performing well are achieveing? Because the system now is failing, and when I think about when I have kids I want them to have the best education they can.

My Future Teaching Spot
When I walk in the room I want the temp to feel just right. The room will be well lighted so everyone can see and have the room feel open. All of the educational posters and bulletin boards will be in bright colors to brighten up the room even more and make the kids want to look at them. Desks and chairs will be in a semicircle so I can see each and every student, and not ever miss out on one. There will always be an icebreaker at the beginning of class to get the kids to act as if they have some energy. I will make sure we do hands on activites and let them go to the board to write answers to questiong I will ask. NO ONE will be left out, EVERYONE has to be included. The kids in the classroom will be able to do projects through multimedia devices like powerpoints. I will allow them to be creative as long as they get the information I want them to have on it, on it. My students will be able to come to me with questions about assignments and I will have a professional email account for them to email me if they need to. This is how my future teaching spot will(HOPEFULLY) be.
