Waiting on Superman Reflection

The movie Waiting on Superman takes an inside look at how school systems are failing. How even though some schools have the most up to date technology they still aren't meeting AYP. The film gave me new insight on how crowded some schools are. I have never experienced an overcrowded school to that degree. Since the school were overcrowded some students could be over looked. It made me sad when the little boy Francisco didn't make it into the charter school, because all he needed was a little more attention that the teacher wasn't able to give. I think that charter schools need to be able to accept more kids. When I saw the HUGE gap between how many people were applying and how many could actually get in I was amazed. That gap would mean a lot of kids were going to be stuck in their under performing schools. But my main question is, what needs to happen in the American school system to achieve what these charter schools that are performing well are achieveing?  Because the system now is failing, and when I think about when I have kids I want them to have the best education they can.

  1. I too noticed how crowded the schools were. I went to a crowded school in high school, well at least what I thought was crowded. But we had a lot of room compared to them. Something needs to change as far as these crowded schools, that could effect the students learning. Great reflection Marrcia!
